Our Story

One-third of the world's food is wasted.

The average college student generates 142 Ib of food waste annually.

Food management problem for many college students living in shared spaces outside of their family for the first time. Our team has personally experienced mold in the fridge!

This poses serious health problems for young adults, including cases of mild and fatal food poisoning. Globally, this has also contributed to an enormous amount of food waste.

FridgeMate eliminates this problem by making food management easy and cost-friendly. Forgot if you have bananas at home? Luckily, your fridge is at your fingertips.

Simply snap a pic of your groceries, and upload it to your virtual fridge. FridgeMate will also remind you when it's time for bad food to go out!

Recipes and shopping lists custom tailored to ingredients in your fridge and consumption habits. Split costs with your roommates and keep track of each other's food.

Ideation & Competitor Analysis

The concept for our fridge management solution was inspired by a personal encounter with mold in a fridge. Recognizing that smart fridges are too expensive for college students, we aimed to create an affordable alternative. We analyzed current market apps to grasp user needs and identify gaps. This led us to design an app tailored for college students, focusing on desired features and revenue generation strategies.

Information Architecture

We prioritized features based on user interaction expectations with the app.

App Development & Launch

Our next step is to begin the technical development phase, focusing on creating a responsive and user-friendly interface for both iOS and Android platforms.
